9th OCO Concerto Competition:
Winds (Woodwinds and Brass)/Vents (bois et cuivres)
Mission and HistoryThe Annual Ottawa Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition provides the opportunity for accomplished, young instrumentalists or vocalists to gain experience performing as soloists with a full sized orchestra.
The Competition seeks to discover, reward and support young singers, wind or string players and pianists under the age of 25 who have distinguished themselves and would like to gain orchestral experience.
The concerto competition started in 2003 with the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and continued ever since yearly with the exception of 2010.
More than 90 young artists have auditioned for these events, and more than 40 have been given the opportunity to perform a classical work of their choosing with the orchestra, and to have their playing evaluated by a panel of professional judges.
