Ethan Balakrishnan, violin

Ethan Balakrishnan has studied the violin for eleven years (currently with Elaine Klimasko), and has also played the viola for one year as Principal Violist of OYO and as a member of the Emerald String Quartet. He has received numerous awards and scholarships including the Edythe Young Browne trophy and multiple first place awards in the Kiwanis Music Festival, as well as being a Provincial finalist in the OMFA music festival.

Ethan was the winner of the 2015 Ottawa Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, and performed the Conus Concerto as a soloist with the OYO in April. He is also an award-winning saxophonist, and enjoys playing swing, jazz, and klezmer in addition to classical music.

Ethan will be playing the Conus Violin Concerto with the OCO.
